(r) About this CD-ROM On this CD-ROM you'll find this entire Antenna Book, including text, drawings, tables, illustrations and photographs. Using the industry-standard Adobe Reader (included), you can view and print the text of the book, zoom in and out on pages, and copy selected parts of pages to the clipboard. A powerful search engine--Acrobat Search--helps you find topics of interest. INSTALLING YOUR ARRL ANTENNA BOOK CD Windows 1. Close any open applications and insert the CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive. (Note: If your system supports "CD-ROM Insert Notification," the ARRL Antenna Book CD should automatically run the installation program when inserted.) 2. Select Run from the Windows Start menu. 3. Type d:\setup (where d: is the drive letter of your CD-ROM drive; if the CD-ROM is a different drive on your system, type the appropriate letter) and press Enter. 4. Follow the instructions to install the CD-ROM files on your system. During installation, you will be asked whether you want the Adobe Reader program to be installed as well. Macintosh To install the CD files on the Mac, open the CD-ROM (AntBk21Ed) icon then click to go into the "Program Files" folder. Drag the "The ARRL Antenna Book" folder icon to your hard drive. To use the search capability in the Antenna Book CD you will need to have Adobe Reader installed. Mac Preview can not access all of the features of the PDF files. If you need to install the Adobe Reader 7 program, it is located in the top level folder of the CD. Double click on the file "Adobe_Reader_MAC_807.dmg" to open up the disk image. Then double click on the Adobe Reader Installer icon to launch the installer. After this is installed you will be able to open the Antenna Book files in Adobe Reader to view them. USING YOUR ARRL ANTENNA BOOK CD Windows If you installed the icon ARRL PDFs on your Desktop, click on it to start the Antenna Book CD viewer. Otherwise, click on START, ALL PROGRAMS, ARRL SOFTWARE, and ARRL Antenna Book 21, followed by ARRL Antenna Book PDFs to start the Antenna Book CD viewer. If during installation you chose not to install the Antenna Book files on your hard drive, insert the CD in the drive and cancel the setup procedure that will automatically start. You will then need to start up Windows Explore (hold down the "Windows" key while pressing the "e") and click on "intro.pdf" to start the Antenna Book CD viewer using the Adobe Reader installed on your computer. Macintosh Go to where you copied the ARRL Antenna Book folder onto your hard disk, then look for the "intro" file. Click to start this file in Adobe Reader. If you chose not to install the Handbook files on your hard drive, you will need to load the CD in the drive first, then go to CD Drive icon (AntBk21) on your desktop, then click on "intro.pdf".
