Welcome to our Hot Iron CD. I hope you enjoy reading through the past 13 years worth of articles and photographs. This CD has been tested on the following operating systems, Windows 98, ME, NT4.0, 2000 and XP. It should auto run when you put the disc in your CD rom drive, if you have auto insert disabled on your drive you will need to double click on the CD icon or run "go.exe" to start the menu program. There is no install procedure, to keep things simple everything is accessed directly from the CD. You will need Adobe Acrobat reader version 7 installed to view and print any of the photos or articles on this cd. The latest version of the free reader is included, to install this simply click on the "install acrobat reader 7.0" button and follow the on screen instructions. The PDF files on this disc are formatted in version 7 - which is required for the gallery as pop up windows are used to display information about each photo - they are not compatible with earlier versions. Hot Iron. Each edition is indexed on the left hand side column, simply clicking on the required edition will take you directly to the first page of that issue. You can then move up and down, page by page through the document. You can print pages as and when required. You will also find on this CD that in the folder named "PDF" there are separate independent copies of each edition of Hot Iron. This may be easier to navigate if for instance you wish to print an entire edition. Gallery. Here you will find a selection of original Walford Electronics prototype photographs and customised rigs built by other constructors. Also included are a selection of photos on a radio theme. The gallery is formatted using Adobe Acrobat which has a simple to use picture interface. From here you can zoom in and out and print anything of interest. All pictures are indexed by bookmarks on the left hand side, some have sub categories which you can close or open by clicking on the "+" or "-" signs. You will find that the index is easier to read if you enable "wrap long bookmarks". To do this simply click on the Options tag of the bookmark panel and select it from the list. I suggest you use the bookmarks to navigate around the pictures as you will find this by far the easiest way to do so. The photographs are not in any particular order, hence using the up / down buttons or your mouse thumb wheel is not recommended. I'll take this opportunity to thank everyone who contributed photographs for the gallery, to Practical Wireless for their support of this project and of course to Tim Walford for his trust and help preparing the photographs and back issues of Hot Iron.
